At-Risk Residents

It is time for the city to help our most at-risk residents. Some of these residents are the ones who join gangs and commit crimes because they feel they have no other choice in order to survive.

Not providing these at-risk residents with the assistance they need to get ahead in life is an injustice that must end. In some cases, the solution can be as simple as finding a job that gives them purpose and opportunity to grow in our city.

In the last few years the current council has been committed to tackling the homeless issue, but it is far from being resolved. Spaces available are full to the brim, leaving many people on the streets.

Reid is committed to:

  • Getting results for the homeless. Nobody should be without a home, and there are buildings across the city that could be turned into at-risk housing. Tiny homes could also be a solution like Calgary has done, especially for veterans.

  • Develop job programs that hire residents with learning disabilities and/or mental illnesses so that they can live a full productive life. There are many jobs across the city that all residents of different learning levels can perform and it is important that the city take the lead where it can.

  • Working with other city councillors, administrations, communities, and organizations to develop a long-term plan for at-risk residents.

  • Doing his part through helping those in need. Reid believes in service over self, and will continue his volunteer work while serving the community.
