Transparency and Accountability
Consistent community engagement is a priority for Reid.
Reid is committed to putting his full effort into making sure the residents of Ward 9 are heard and properly represented. There is no excuse in the age of instant messaging and social media for representatives to not reach out to residents.
Reid is committed to being accessible by:
Phone from 9:00 am till 11:00 pm. If unavailable to take a call, residents can leave a message.
Email, text messaging, and social media for one on one conversations or group chats as requested.
Holding an open community forum for all Ward 9 residents, once a week in a local business. This forum will give residents the opportunity to voice their issues/concerns. This forum will be held on a Saturday or Sunday to allow the majority of residents to attend.
Holding a once or twice a quarter forum of Ward 9 leaders from different communities, churches, schools, politicians, and recreation groups to discuss wider Ward 9 issues. There are many concerns that different communities have and they do not always get to discuss them with each other.
Consistently meeting residents by going door to door or attending events.
Over the years residents and businesses of all types have been wanting more engagement from City Hall. Not everything can be done by viewing a website or going to city-run events and council meetings. The modern world and politics has moved to constant engagement and the need for real solutions in a timely manner.
