Taxes
The above graph is an overview of all the property tax increases for the City of Regina in the past 5 years. It works out to being a 15.6% increase on property taxes.
Residents know they have to pay taxes for services, but are tired of paying to develop new areas of the city while theirs continue to deteriorate.
The residents of Ward 9 and the City of Regina deserve a solution that makes sense:
A more active discussion on why taxes go up every year has to take place so that residents know why and what they are paying for.
Reid will make it clear to the administration that during these tough economic times there are many residents that cannot afford another increase, and may have to move if taxes keep going up.
The city has to find efficiencies within the administration in order to lower the tax burden on our community.
These may sound like simple solutions, but it will take the cooperation of all of the wards to accomplish.
In the long term we should attract more people to move to Regina and open up businesses. These new residents would be the catalyst to generating more revenue and help develop the city.
